The Arab-Irish Chamber of Commerce hosted a round table discussion with the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom and the non-resident of Ireland Dr. Saleh Al-Tamimi and his accompanying delegation. A group of businessmen and representatives of Irish companies in different sectors attended the event.
The Ambassador presented a summary of the importance of investment and trade exchange in Iraq and reviewed the investment opportunities and the suitable environment for work and investment, stressing that there are facilities granted by Iraqi laws and provided by the government.
His Excellency stressed that Iraq has a great desire to enhance the opportunities for openness to Irish companies and to enhance trade with Ireland. He noted that the Iraqi Embassy in London provides facilities for businessmen and companies in this regard, hoping that there will be a large presence of Irish investment companies and businessmen in Iraq.
The Chairman of the Arab-Irish Chamber of Commerce Mr. Niall Holohan and the Secretary General Mr. Ahmad Younis welcomed the visit, stressing the importance of cooperation and enhancing trade exchange opportunities. Many businessmen expressed their great desire to work with Iraq, pointing out the importance of communication and holding joint meetings and their desire to meet with Iraqi delegations in Dublin. There has been an exchange of talk and response to queries in this regard.
The Chamber of Commerce organized a working lunch in honour of the Ambassador and the accompanying delegation. At the end of the meeting His Excellency Ambassador Tamimi presented a commemorative gift to the Chairman of the Arab-Irish Chamber of Commerce.
