On Tuesday, March 15th, the Arab-Irish Chamber of Commerce signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DP World, the Dubai Port Authority.  The MOU builds on and expands the connections between the DP World and the Arab Ireland Chamber and further expands the trade and logistics facilitation for Irish exporters to Dubai, including Dubai Customs.

Both parties recognize the importance of maintaining favourable conditions for trade and the impact on the economies of Ireland and the United Arab Emirates and agreed to explore collaboration opportunities to grow bilateral trade between Ireland and Dubai.

The Ceremony was attended by officials from DP World visiting Ireland on a two-day trade mission and Enterprise Ireland.  Also in attendance were IDA Ireland, Bord Bia, Irish entrepreneurs and companies and members of Irelands Logistics and Freight forwarding associations.

AICC CEO and Secretary General Ahmad Younis

Addressing the gathering, AICC CEO Ahmad Younis noted that trade relations between Ireland & the UAE have doubled over the last 10 years. Access to the two markets has continued to improve with the two leading UAE airlines, Emirates and Etihad, providing daily flights between them. He emphasised the Chambers role in ensuring that all Irish exports and services meet the rules and regulations for entering the UAE.

He thanks Enterprise Ireland and DP World for the work that has been done to date to progress this vital step in building an even more productive trade relationship between the UAE and Ireland.
